Environment

International Fasteners and the Environment

We have a genuine commitment to reducing the environmental impact our business makes and do everything we can to recycle materials, and minimise the power we use and the waste we produce.

Even our building is recycled – it used to be a brewery in Newcastle and it’s over 70 years old. The 10 metre steels are the original ones, and protected with fireproof boarding to meet building regulations.

N

Electricity

Before we moved into our custom-built premises in Southam, we assessed how much electricity we were using. Then we calculated how many solar panels would provide the power we need to run the factory.

N

Equipment

Everything we use is electric.
N

Water

A 66,000 litre water tank collects rainwater from the building which we harvest 100% of our non portable water requirements

N

Lighting

Our LED system is ‘walk in-walk out’ so we only use lights when we need to. We also have extra sky panels in the roof of the building designed to make the most of natural light – we seldom need the lights on during the day.
N

Heating and air-conditioning

We have the highest efficiency-rated systems and the building is insulated to the maximum to retain heat.
N

Recycling

All cardboard and plastic is packed into bales for recycling. Wooden pallets are also recycled.
N

Transport

We use backloads into Europe to minimise fuel and reduce waste. And many of our staff, most of whom live locally, choose to cycle to work.
N

We’re certified to ISO 14001: 2015.
